Community Education is committed to strong community partnerships in the areas of workforce training, personal enrichment courses,
and social / cultural activities.

Workforce and Career Training Courses
In cooperation with the area business community, Massasoit offers a variety of non-credit certificate programs that prepare the adult learner for a new career. The successful Marine Trades, Oil Heat, Burglar and Fire Alarm, EMT, Interior Design and Event Planning programs have enabled students to work and grow in their chosen fields. The Real Estate Salesperson and Construction Preparation courses prepare the student for certification and re-certification. Courses fulfilling mandatory continuing education hours and re-licencing requirements for the professional and tradesperson are on-going. As the times and workforce change so does Massasoit's Division of Workforce Development and Community Education.

Personal Enrichment Courses
There are over fifty different enrichment courses available - from computers and calligraphy to scuba diving and foreign languages. Prepare for trips with Conversational Italian and Conversational Spanish. Stimulate the body and mind with Water Aerobics, Reiki, and Shiatsu massage. There's something for everyone!

Courses for Children
Several art, music, floral arrangement, or dance courses may be of interest to young folks. For more information about the very popular Youth Theater, for students in grades 3-12, course, call 508-588-9100 x1509.
Community Education Q & A
Q. What is Community Education?
A. The Community Education Department runs non-credit courses, often referred to as Community Service courses. These include job training, recreational, and educational courses.

Q. What are Non-credit Courses?
A. The courses do not grant credit toward an academic degree; however many fulfill continuing education requirements in the workplace. Students choose any class of interest, without homework or exams. Usually, the time spent during a course is stress free - and is of personal satisfaction, whether related to personal or work-related goals.

Q. Any Course of Choice?
A. Right. The range of courses offered each semester changes and expands regularly. For example, courses are offered in the arts, workplace training, business, computers, finance, education, fitness, hobbies, crafts, personal development, language, travel, sports, recreation and dance.

Q. Who Takes these Courses?
A. Anyone - you, your spouse, mother, father, children, friends. There are no age restrictions or general requirements for most courses.

Q. What is the Time Commitment?
A. Most courses are short-term or in a series. They start at various times throughout the semester to accommodate even the busiest schedule.

Q. What is the Cost?
A. Prices are very affordable, ranging from $27 to $1,507, depending on the length and content of the course.

Q. Where are they Offered?
A. Courses are offered at one or both of our campuses in Brockton and Canton. Occasionally a course will require off-site classes at an appropriate venue such as a marina, furniture store, or function hall.

Q. Where is the List of Courses and How Do I Register?
A. The Massasoit Brochure, which is mailed to homes three times a year, lists these courses. To receive a brochure, call 508-588-9100 x1509. Also, the courses are listed on Massasoit's web-site - www.massasoit.mass.edu
