A Window on the World
The World Language Center provides a quiet, relaxed and supportive atmosphere for students learning English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Chinese. Tutors focus on the needs of each student to help every individual build confidence and develop proficiency in his or her foreign language skills.
Tutors include professors, professional and peer tutors who work with students individually, and in groups. They answer each person's specific questions, and address everyone's concerns regarding issues in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation, focusing on the general building blocks of reading, writing and speaking in a foreign language. |
| Conversation and pronunciation groups, guided by tutors, meet weekly to provide students, for whom English is a foreign language, an opportunity to try out new ideas on a variety of subjects, and to reinforce what has been presented in the classroom. Students who are not enrolled in a conversation and pronunciation class may arrange a time with one of the tutors to meet for individual conversations in The World Language Center. Conversation groups for students studying languages other than English are organized upon request. |
Whether learning English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or Chinese, The World Language Center together with The Writing Center invites students to come study, ask questions, read, write, listen to a story, work on grammar, make conversation, and meet people from all over the world!
