Massasoit Community College Hosts Official Launch of the Secure Jobs Program

Brockton, MA (June 6, 2013) – Massasoit Community College hosted the official launch of the Secure Jobs Program on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Buckley Performing Arts Center. Secure Jobs is a public-private partnership among  Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS); United Way of Greater Plymouth County; The Paul & Phyllis Fireman Charitable Foundation; Old Colony YMCA; CareerWorks, and South Shore Housing, which have joined resources to assist formerly homeless families find jobs and sustain their housing. Due to budget cuts, many families are currently receiving short-term rental assistance from the State of Massachusetts through the HomeBASE program, may find themselves without support over the next several months. This collaborative model aims at helping families find permanent solutions to homelessness by providing skills training and job placement services.

To date, 22 heads of household have been placed into permanent employment and the program goal is to place more than 100 people into jobs by the year 2015.
