R.A.D. Self Defense Training for Female Students, Faculty & Staff
|May 8, 2013
|Brockton, MA (May 8, 2013) – Massasoit Community College police officers will be hosting a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) training series this month. The classes are free and open to female students, faculty, and staff, age 16 and older.
Class size is limited and spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis. If a large number of enrollments are received, there will be a wait list.
The class is offered by the Massasoit Police Department throughout the year and it is designed to show how one can observe her surroundings and respond to confrontation.
“We try to teach our students how to respond to threats and negative situations with a clear mind, and give them tools they can use to defend themselves,” said Officer Robert Hoey, Massasoit Police.
Training includes lecture hours as well as physical activity and instruction.
“Many of our students, regardless of their level of previous training or physical ability, complete the class with a new level of self-confidence and pride that, as an instructor, is thrilling to see," said Hoey.
The class will be held Friday, May 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; participants must attend each class.
RSVP in person to Sergeant Mahase, Officer Seely, or Officer Hoey at the Campus Police Office.
