Massasoit Community College Student to Serve in Spring 2014 Governor's Internship Program
Brockton resident, Jean B. Derenoncourt, selected to participate in the Governor’s internship program in the Constituent Services Office
January 24, 2014
Brockton, MA – Massasoit Community College President Charles Wall is pleased to announce the selection of student Jean B. Derenoncourt as an intern in the Governor’s Internship Program, through which he will work in the Office of Constituent Services.

Mr. Derenoncourt is a Brockton resident enrolled in the Liberal Arts Transfer – Science program at Massasoit. He is a Haitian native who came to the United States in 2010 to live with his father whom he had never met. Since his arrival to the United States, Jean has proven he is a dedicated and ambitious student and worker. After obtaining his GED in the spring of 2012, he enrolled in the Liberal Arts Transfer program at Massasoit and immediately became involved with several on-campus groups. Currently Jean serves in the Student Senate and holds other leadership roles, including as President of the Hearts for Haiti group and as Public Relations Coordinator for the International Touch Club.

Aside from his academic work, Jean is currently serving as an intern in the Office of the Mayor of Brockton where he is responsible for analyzing and summarizing reports, responding to constituent inquiries, answering and directing phone calls, and producing marketing materials.
Jean is highly self-motivated, extremely personable, conscientious, and thoroughly engaged. All that he has accomplished has been mostly through his own determination. His experiences in his native Haiti have left him with a strong desire to help others improve their lives, and he foresees for himself a career in government, aspiring to one day hold high office.

“Jean will bring to the Governor’s Office of Constituent Services a ready smile, an openness to any and all new experiences, a true willingness to learn and contribute, and an enthusiasm and passion for helping those in need gain access to the services and resources that can help them better their circumstances,” said Dr. Charles Wall, president of Massasoit Community College. “We at Massasoit congratulate him on this wonderful opportunity.”
