Over the past 10 years the Massasoit College Police Department’s Bike Unit has become a common tool used in crime fighting and community policing. The bike patrol allows the officers to access the inner campus areas easier and quicker than on foot or by police vehicle. The Massasoit Police bikes are more then just a mode of transportation, and require each Bike Patrol Officer to attend a rigorous three-day police bike course, known in the law enforcement community to be COBWEB.
MPD Bike Patrol Officers provide the same amount of law enforcement as an Officer in a patrol cruiser, however at times allows for quicker response time, and provides higher visibility. The patrol bikes are fully marked and equipped with special halogen lights and rear saddlebags for equipment relating to individual officer assignment.
