Whodunit!
Instructions for the Brockton Campus Version
Welcome to Whodunit: The Massasoit Community College Mystery. This is a campus-wide version of the popular “whodunit” board game, Clue. Are you a good detective? If you are, you could win a new iPod, our grand prize, or gift certificates to the Bookstore, or copy cards.
How to Enter
Scenario
Someone has stolen the college’s signed copy of the award winning novel, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Since the book was signed by author, Mark Haddon, it is a priceless part of the college collection. The Massasoit students, faculty and staff must have it back! A list of suspects has been gathered. The possible weapons used in the crime have been compiled. Possible locations where the book was last spotted have been put together. Can you assemble the clues and solve the mystery?
Rules and Directions
Object of the Game:
The object of the game is to solve the mystery. This is done by answering three questions:
The correct answers to these questions that solve the mystery have been locked away in the super-secret Library safe.
Who Can Play the Game:
You must be a student to play the game. To collect a prize, you must present your Massasoit Student ID. Anyone who takes a class at Massasoit and has a Massasoit Student ID is a student and is eligible to play the game and win prizes. Library employees are excluded.
Getting Clues:
You can find clues to the game by visiting participating locations on campus, listed on your score sheet. You must visit these areas and ask for clues. The clues are printed on 8.5” X 11” sheets of paper and are marked as official clues. The sheets have pictures of either a suspect, a location, or a weapon on them. Make note of the clues as you see them on your clue score card. Once you have seen all the clues, the suspect, location and weapon you have not seen are your answers to who committed the crime, where it was committed and the weapon used in the crime.
Clue Score Card:
The clue score cards include a map and a list of all possible suspects, locations, and weapons. Use this to keep track of your progress. If you decide to submit an answer for the grand prize, you must submit a completed clue score card. All score cards must be turned in to the Canton or Brockton Library by noon on March 30.
Prizes: iPod, Book Store Gift Certificates, Copy Cards, Etc.
Students who correctly solve the mystery will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win the prizes.
Prize winners will be announced at the One Book, One College Brockton kick-off event on April 2 at 12 Noon in the Upper Student Lounge of the Student Center and at the One Book, One College kick-off in Canton April 2 at 12 Noon in the Library. Participants must present Massasoit Community College identification to win prizes. Prizes must be claimed by noon on Wednesday, April 4th or other winning entries will be drawn.
