The Massasoit Community College Library
reflects the mission of the College by providing its diverse population with
the information resources that support a wide range of transfer and career
programs; by teaching the information-seeking skills needed for success in college
and for lifelong learning; by preserving and making accessible the College’s
historical materials; and by allowing the use of its facilities and collections
to play a role in the intellectual and cultural life of the College community.
Goals
- To
teach users the information seeking skills that they need to access information
and to employ analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving in its use.
- To
collaborate with the faculty to ensure that the use of information resources is
an integral part of the education of students.
- To
develop and maintain a collection of materials to support the information needs
of the College community, giving priority to the materials that support instruction,
but providing materials for independent study research, and personal enrichment
whenever possible.
- To
advocate for the staff and funds needed to continue the sharing of resources
and services with other institutions and within networks, which allows access
to the broadest possible range of materials to support the academic and other
information needs of the College community.
- To acquire, process, preserve and make
accessible the historical materials which document the origins, development,
activities, and the achievements of the College and its alumni.
- To
promote the Library as an educational and cultural resource for the College
community and the area it serves.
