The Professional Development Center uses real-world, hands-on training and development methods for our software workshops. This approach virtually guarantees that you and your staff will return to the office ready to put your new and upgraded skills to work.

Scheduling:
We make our schedules meet your business needs. We will work with you to customize the ideal times, courses, and locations that will minimize employee downtime and maximize training opportunities.
Private Training Suites:
The Professional Development Training Suites are an ergonomically designed work environment that seeks to provide our clients with the best learning conditions possible. Spacious work stations that are handicapped accessible allow for free range of motion and a sense of personal privacy.  Non-glare lighting and acoustic paneling combined with carefully selected computer hardware allow you to focus on improving your skills.

Cancellations and Substitutions:
Cancellations received up to 5 days before the workshop are refundable. After that, cancellations are subject to the entire workshop fee. Please note, if you don't cancel and don't attend, you are still responsible for payment.

Software Training Course Descriptions

PDCC 201 Introduction to Personal Computers (PC)
This course will give you ample opportunity to get comfortable with your computer. Instruction will start with using the on/off switch and what to do with the computer mouse. You will also learn about different computer parts (called components) as well as system configuration (how it is set up) in easy-to-understand language. An introduction to Windows software will start your computer journey.
Class Length: 3 hours
No Prerequisite

PDCC 202 Windows (Part 1)
Get comfortable with your Windows operating system in this workshop. Understand what you're looking at on the screen and the computer terminology that goes with it. With our instructor, create and correct common user problems, understand the desktop, issue keyboard commands, learn how to work properly with you mouse - such as how and when to use the right button vs. the left button, and more.
Class Length: 3 Hours
No Prerequisite

PDCC 203 Windows (Part 2)
Proper disk work and document maintenance is a must. You will be introduced to this using programs known as My Computer and Explorer. Learn how to properly use a disk, delete documents and free up drive space, restore documents deleted by accident, work with folders, find lost documents, customize the desktop, cancel print requests, create shortcuts. Learn how to control your Windows environment - don't let it control you.
Class Length: 3 Hours
Prerequisite: Windows (Part 1)

PDCC 204 Introduction to Word
This course is designed to teach the basics of word processing in a very relaxed atmosphere. Topics include creating a document, developing good editing techniques, formatting your document the way you want it to appear, spell check, lots of keyboard commands and shortcuts, avoiding common mistakes, adding special characters like copyright symbols, the always troubling how to save a document, recall a document to the screen for updating, printing, and more.
Class Length: 6 Hours (may be broken into two 3-hour sessions)
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 205 Intermediate Word
This course is designed for people who have "mastered" the basics of the Introduction course. Intermediate topics will include how to set up and format numbered/bulleted lists, setting up tabs and tables and an explanation of when to use tabs vs. tables, adding dots to your tabs as in a Table of Contents, importing and manipulating graphics, using built-in memo/fax templates, creating an auto correct entry so the computer types for you, more advanced formatting of your typing, using Format Painter to save time, and more.
Class Length: 6 Hours (may be broken into two 3-hour classes)
Prerequisite: Windows and Introduction to Word

PDCC 206 Intro to Excel
A pleasant introduction to electronic spreadsheets. You will be introduced to the Excel environment and learn to type, edit, and finalize a simple spreadsheet. Learn terminology and commonly used math formulas to calculate your numbers and how to double check the accuracy of these formulas. Editing skills will be developed to format your numbers the way you want them to be, fix some basic printing problems, save your spreadsheet from unknown computer demons, learn about fill series, and more.
Class Length: 6 Hours. (May be broken into two 3-hour sessions)
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 207 Intermediate Excel
This course is designed for users who are comfortable with the commands taught in the Introductory course. This session will give additional practice on functions and commands used in Excel. Learn how to build and transform your spreadsheet into easy-to-read charts and graphs for presentation purposes, use absolute references, custom format numbers such as zip codes, phone numbers, and social security numbers, use Excel as a database, correcting circular references, freeze sections of your worksheet, and more.
Class Length: 6 Hours (May be broken into two 3-hour sessions)
Prerequisite: Windows and Introduction to Excel

PDCC 208 PowerPoint (Part 1)
This course is specifically designed for the person who is typing a presentation using PowerPoint. Skills will be developed to create and modify a presentation, tips on formatting to make it look good, add notes pages, print handouts for your audience, delete and add slides, change the order of your slides, run a slide show manually, and much more.
Class Length: 3 Hours
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 209 PowerPoint (Part 2)
This course is designed to put finishing touches on the typed presentation and get it ready for presentation day. This can be a continuation of Part 1 or can be taken as a stand alone course. Topics covered will center on manipulating color schemes, adding graphics, charts, tables, utilizing transitions and effects to liven up your show, automating your presentation, hide slides for backup purposes, hyper linking slides, and more as time permits.
Class Length: 3 Hours
Prerequisite: PowerPoint (Part 1)

PDCC 210 Introduction to Access
This introductory course will show you what an electronic database program is capable of doing. Learn database terminology, how to design you own database, type and edit information, sort and extract specific data from this information through queries, and create forms and reports. You will use Wizards, set primary keys, delete records, and fix formatting problems. Most importantly, you will acquire knowledge of what a database program is and you can decide for yourself if Access is a piece of software your company could benefit from.
Class Length: 6 Hours (Recommend two 3-hour sessions)
Prerequisite: Familiarity with Windows software.

PDCC 211 Intermediate Access
This course will continue instruction in Access. Attendees will learn how to work with Queries to refine and extract information from their database(s), create and modify forms and reports, find, sort, and filter records, and database maintenance.
Class Length: 6 Hours (Recommend two 3-hour sessions)
Prerequisite: Windows and Intro to Access

PDCC 212 Internet
Learn how to explore the Internet in this course. Use popular software to learn how to visit Web sites all over the world. Organize your favorite sites to return to their addresses quickly and easily, navigate the Web using hyperlinks, and learn about search engines to help you find information that you desire.
Class Length: 3 Hours
Prerequisite: Familiarity with Windows software

PDCC 213 Email
Using Outlook software, participants will gain experience in creating, sending, receiving, and responding to E-Mail messages received both in-house and from customers. Gain experience on handling your inbox, sent items and deleted items. Add a personal signature and more.
Class Length: 3 hours
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 214 Intro to AutoCAD
Covers default setups, basic drawing, text, dimensioning, transformation tools. Assumes no previous AutoCAD experience or computer experience and may be frustrating for the novice.
Class Length: 15 hours
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 216 Web Page Development
This course covers the basics of Web Page development using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML). Topics will include planning and designing a web page, establishing links in a document, adding graphics, typing, editing, and preparing your web page for publishing.
Class Length: 6 Hours
Prerequisite: Windows

PDCC 217 On-Site Computer Training
The Professional Development Center is happy to send our trainer(s) to your site for computer training. Specifics as to training topics and times will be discussed with the PDC.
Class Length: To Be Determined
Prerequisite: For computer training, a dedicated room is required.
