Health Training

Advanced CNA Training for Licensed Professionals
The CNA III Program will be a 32-hour training program that will focus on Sub acute nursing care and rehab/restorative care. Topics include: Physical assessment, Care of Diabetic Patient, Care of Cardiac Respiratory Patient, Care of Orthopedic patient, Observe and Report Ortho, Pathophysiology/Swallowing, Communication—verbal and non-verbal, Standard Precautions, and Preventing Spread of Infections in long-term care environment.

CPR Certification/Recertification
This workshop trains participants in the skills necessary to receive certification in basic CPR.

Medical Terminology
Topics will include: word roots; the skeletal system; the muscular system; the cardiovascular system; the lymphatic system; the immune system; the respiratory system; the digestive system; the urinary system; the nervous system; the special senses: eyes and ears; the integumentary system; the endocrine system; and the reproductive system.

ServSafe, Part I & II
This course meets the MA and RI certification regulations. All aspects of food sanitation and safety are reviewed. Topics include the flow of food, proper hygiene, HACCP, pest control, time temperature requirements and food allergies. Certification exam is given the 2nd half of the last class.

Effective Hiring Techniques
This course will provide you with the skills and tools required to hire the right candidate. It covers the essential steps from creating a solid job description, identifying selection criteria, the interview process, identifying the most common hiring mistakes, and learning to make the proper offer.

Effective Performance Appraisal
The subject of performance appraisals can be either difficult and depressing or dynamic and positive. This workshop will help you through the process, provide you with guidelines in effective appraisal discussions, identify the pitfalls to avoid, help with attitudinal change necessary in conducting or participating in the process, and provide pointers on dealing with unsatisfactory performance, etc.

This seminar is designed to help supervisors and managers understand how employment laws work in the real world and how they affect their everyday duties.

Legal Issues in Hiring
Form the Job posting to the Applications, from the interview to the employment offer, legal issues abound. In this 3-hour session we will create an ad, review your organization’s application form (bring a copy with you if it is available), role play an interview, and make en employment offer. Note that this session does not in any way construe legal advice bur rather, it is designed to provide insight based on general HR management fundamentals, practices and principles.

OSHA, Part I & II
Students will learn employer responsibilities, electrical safety requirements, fall protection, requirement for walking and working surfaces, personal protection and life saving equipment, ways to prevent worker injuries when using hand and power tools, scaffold construction and inspection, material handling, storage and disposal, purpose of OSHA's hazard communication standard, fire protection and prevention and means of egress.

GED Review for the Workplace
This 48-hour course is designed to prepare students for the GED test. Instructional emphasis is on English language and reading skills, as well as mathematics and use of the GED test- specific calculator. The course is a fast review, not designed to address needs for in-depth ESOL or ABE instruction. Before registering, a pre-assessment is required.

Grant Writing for Non-Profits

Math in the Workplace
A study of basic arithmetic skills including whole numbers, fractions, decimals, percents, proportions and order of operations with signed numbers. This course will also explore problem solving in applied situations.

A great presenter has two notable qualities: appropriate skills and personal confidence. Confidence comes from knowing what you want to say and being comfortable with your communication skills. Spanish in the workplace is an introductory workshop which will provide participants with an introduction to simple Spanish phrases and some frequently used questions and dialogue that can be integrated into the daily workplace. This class is designed for the employee who would like to participate in simple conversational Spanish with their fellow employees in the workplace.

Supervisor’s Survival Guide
Transitioning to a supervisor can be disastrous without the tools to do the job. What are the initial “must haves” for a supervisor? This workshop provides the supervisor with the required basic tools to begin their role as a supervisor. Supervisors will learn to manage their former peers, set goral with employees, deliver feedback effectively, delegate and communicate effectively based on the various styles of their employees. This workshop is a must for the newly appointed supervisor.

Time Management
Where does the time go? This course explores what time management is and how participants can better manage their time. Topics include planning, prioritization, goal setting and dealing with interruptions, procrastination and clutter.

Software Training

Advanced Access 2007, 2010 & 2013
The third in the series, this course focuses on a variety of tools and macros available to experience Access users. Included will be training in database manipulation, developing and using program tools in providing multiple presentation formats, and using multiple data sources to improve the efficiency of the program and resulting databases. Prior experience with Access is required for this course.

Advanced Formulas in Excel 2007, 2010 & 2013
Go beyond the basic Excel formulas. Learn to create IF statements, the count function, absolute value, pivot tables, and using dates in your calculations.

Computer Bootcamp
This course is designed for someone new to computers or for someone who is timid using one. Instruction will start with the on/off switch and how to use a computer mouse, then progress to the Windows desktop screen, discussing and solving problems that can occur from there. The course is offered to help build confidence in general computer use in order to comfortably advance to additional computer topics. Students learn in a relaxed atmosphere with an instructor who explains subject matter in an easy-to-learn format. Students are also introduced to the Internet and World Wide Web. Certificate is given upon completion.

Excel for Project Managers
In this hands-on workshop you will learn to plan, execute, monitor and manage all aspects of Project with the most widely used tool at your workplace, MS Excel. You will go beyond the basic calculations and simple spreadsheet applications. Guided by an expert instructor you will explore Charts, Data and Formula functions of MS Excel to create Gantt charts, timeline, dashboards and other templates to help you in day to day decision making at all levels. At the end of this workshop, you will be perfectly capable of creating your own project management templates, designed and customized to your needs. Pre-requisite: Working knowledge of MS Excel.

Intermediate Access 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course will continue instruction in Access. Attendees will learn how to work with queries to refine and extract information from their database(s), create and modify forms and reports, find, sort, and filter records and database maintenance.

Intermediate Excel 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course is designed for users who are comfortable with the commands taught in the Intro. to Excel course. This session will give additional practice on functions and commands used in Excel.

Intermediate Powerpoint 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course focuses on applying and modifying templates, changing presentation colors, creating shapes, adding graphics, adding tables and charts, creating multimedia presentations, reviewing and sharing presentations, and customizing PowerPoint.

Intermediate Word 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course is designed for people who have mastered the basics of Word. This session will include: formatting bullets, tabs, and tables, importing and manipulating graphics, creating auto correct entries, advanced formatting of typing, and more.

Introduction to Access 2007, 2010 & 2013
This introductory course will show you what an electronic database program is capable of doing. Learn database terminology, how to design your own database, type and edit information, sort and extract specific data from this information through queries and create forms and reports. You will use Wizards, set primary keys, delete records, and fix formatting problems. Most importantly you will acquire knowledge of what a database program is and you can decide for yourself if Access is a piece of software your company could benefit from.

Introduction to Excel 2007, 2010 & 2013
A pleasant introduction to electronic spreadsheets. You will be introduced to the Excel environment to learn to type, edit and finalize a simple spreadsheet.

Introduction to PowerPoint 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course is specifically designed for a person who is typing a presentation using PowerPoint. Skills will be developed to create and modify a presentation, tips on formatting to make it look good, add note pages, print handouts for your audience, delete and add slides, change the order of your slides, run a slide show manually, and much more.

QuickBooks is the #1 accounting software package used by small business. This powerful software not only automates tedious bookkeeping tasks, it provides the financial information needed to effectively manage a business. This course offers a hands-on approach to utilizing QuickBooks. Participants will leave with a solid foundation to help implement QuickBooks at their workplace.

Introduction to Word 2007, 2010 & 2013
This course is designed to teach the basics of word processing in a very relaxed atmosphere. Topics include creating a document, developing good editing techniques, formatting your document the way you want it to appear, spell check, lots of keyboard commands and shortcuts, avoiding common mistakes, adding special characters like copyright symbols, the always troubling how to save a document, recall a document to the screen for updating, printing and more.

This course will focus on how Microsoft Outlook can help an organization plan, communicate, manage, and delegate more efficiently.

Spreadsheet Engineering
Spreadsheets are an integral part of business today. Most users assume that their spreadsheets are error free, and hence can be used as a reliable tool for effective decision making. However, an article in MarketWatch, which cited a 2008 analysis of multiple studies, states that Eighty-eight percent of spreadsheets contain errors. Despite this evidence, most companies and individuals pay very little attention to the prospect of serious spreadsheet errors, and continue to rely on flawed spreadsheet models. WordPress is a powerful personal publishing platform, and it comes with a great set of features designed to make creating your own blog or website as easy, pleasant and appealing as possible. In this 4-hour, hands-on workshop, you will set up your own free website account and learn how to organize and manage your content. Topics covered include: Register your free account, Dashboard and WordPress settings, adding content: pages and posts, and adding images, documents and video. This workshop is designed to get you started with creating your website and is for beginners. If you already have a WordPress website, you do not need to set up a account. Prerequisite Skills: Students need to have good fundamental computer skills and be able to perform basic tasks. Because using WordPress does not entail software programming, students do not need to have any prior computer programming experience! 201
You've started your website and added some content, but you want it to do more! This hands-on workshop will provide a brief overview of pages and posts, then move into adding style and functionality to your site with plugins, themes, and custom menus. This workshop is based on the self-hosted version of WordPress, meaning you must have a domain name and web hosting with WordPress installed.

Blueprint Reading
This course provides an introduction to blueprint reading. Topics will include principles of orthographic projection, lines, symbols abbreviation dimensioning and tolerances interpretation of multi-view, section and assembly drawings, numbering system and drawing format.

Concepts and Practices of Drinking Water Distribution
Offered in partnership with the Massachusetts Water Works Association, this 39-hour state approved Concepts and Practices of Drinking Water Distribution course is designed to introduce the concepts of drinking water distribution operations to individuals seeking a new career or presently working in the drinking water distribution field. This course is a pre-requisite for taking the drinking water licensing exam(s) for water distribution, grades D2, D3, or D4 and is a required component for eligibility as an operator-in-training or a full license operator. Participants will learn required information and critical thought processes involved in the understanding of the successful operation and maintenance of drinking water distribution systems. Additional cost for textbooks.

Concepts and Practices of Advanced Drinking Water Treatment T3/T4
This course is designed to provide the student with the advanced concepts of drinking water treatment operations. Operator will be equipped with ability to control process, not just basic understanding (e.g. being able to answer the "why" or "why not" questions). Emphasis will be on filtration and reporting. Advanced topics on potable water sources and use, treatment technologies, laboratory, and administration will be provided. Students must possess a Grade 2 T (full or OIT) license or have successfully completed a Basic Treatment course.

Construction Supervisor Training
Prepare for the Massachusetts Construction Supervisor's License Exam. With an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor's License (CSL), you can pull building permits to build buildings containing less than 35,000 sq. feet of enclosed space, one or two family dwellings, buildings for farm purposes and retaining walls less than 10 ft. in height. The exam is not about construction, but knowledge of building codes. If your profession or business requires you to deal with contracts, contractors, building inspectors, property managers, etc., you will find this course very helpful.

Introduction to AutoCAD, Part 1 – 6
Students will learn options palette, use of rays, override layer color, measure and divide, match properties, make and insert blocks, text symbols and multileader modifications.

Land Survey Training
In this course participants will learn the basic principles of surveying. They will perform a field survey and produce a certified plot plan using Auto CAD. During this field lab, the participants will receive training from a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in the proper use of field instruments and the procedures to be used in the field traverse.
