Winter Program Pitching & Total Skills Softball Academy
6 Sessions
Sundays, January 6, 13, 27 & February 10, 17, 24


The Pitching Academy
The Pitching Clinic is for girls age 7 and up who are interested in learning the craft of pitching Fastpitch Softball. The academy is designed for pitchers of all abilities.

The program will run six weeks beginning January 6th. Pitchers will be grouped according to age, ability, and comfort. In addition, coaches and parents are encouraged to attend, take notes, and ask questions. All pitchers are required to bring their own catcher.

The following will be covered:

  • Basic Mechanics
  • Advanced Mechanics
  • In Season/Off Season Conditioning
  • Proper Stretching & Warm up
  • Different Pitches (drop, curve, screwball, change-up, rise)
  • Situation Pitching
  • Pitcher/Catcher Communication
  • Rules of the Games (high school, ASA, NCAA)
  • Individual Goal Setting
  • Pitch Selection & Location
  • Confidence Building

The pitching academy will provide education, training and experience for each individual pitcher. If the pitcher has the ability and desire to succeed, she will. There will be lectures, demonstrations and drills to help our pitchers develop.
The Total Skills Academy
The Total Skills Academy is for girls ages 7 and up who are interested in improving their skills in Fastpitch Softball. This session will provide instruction on the specific softball skills needed to make players elite and well rounded. It will focus on all positions.

Training sessions will be similar to those of a college practice & will emphasize hitting. Players will be grouped according to age & ability.

Players will receive instruction in:

  • Infield & Outfield
  • Hitting & Bunting
  • Catching
  • Base running & sliding
  • Positional defensive play

This academy is recommended for all pitchers as well as positional players. Our goal is to make all players as well-rounded as possible. Sport Psychology topics such as visualization, mental toughness, and confidence building will also be addressed.

Clinic Directors:

Directed By Chrissy Semler
Chrissy Semler is the Head Softball Coach of the Massasoit Warriors Softball Team. Her experience is extensive as she has been playing softball for 23 years and coaching for 15 years. She has held coaching positions from little league through college with her specialty being to coach pitchers. In addition to coaching at the college, Chrissy also serves as a Latch counselor and teaches psychology courses. Coach Semler is a private pitching coach for many girls in the area as well. She has extensive experience working with girls of all ages and abilities and her background in adolescent, young adult and sport psychology give her a unique perspective to coaching.

Featuring Shauna Ferris
Shauna is the assistant and strength/conditioning coach for the Massasoit Warriors Softball Team. She has extensive experience working with hitters and beginner/intermediate pitchers. She has been a professional instructor for 15 years working at indoor facilities and clinics. Shauna has a very impressive softball resume and got her start playing for Brookfield Little League in Brockton. She had a very successful career playing for Brockton High School as a starter on varsity all four years, for the Mass Drifters where she won a national championship, and at Mitchell College on a softball scholarship. She won numerous awards while hitting over .400 during her college career and was invited to try out for the National Professional Fastpitch League. Shauna is currently a Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Director at the YMCA in Brockton.
