Coach Pina has been playing or coaching basketball for over 40 years. His playing career includes a trip to the MA Division I State Finals in 1973 and a brief career playing for Bates College in Lewiston, Maine where he graduated in 1979. Coach Pina coached high school basketball for 10 years, eight as a head coach.

Before arriving at Massasoit Community College, he coached for Coyle-Cassidy, Somerset, and Seekonk high schools.  Coach Pina is entering his 4th year at Massasoit and 3rd as head coach.

Last year Coach Pina led Massasoit to the MCCAC State Finals, losing by a point and qualifying his team for the regional tournament for the first time in seven years. For his efforts he received the Coach of the Year Award for Region XXI.  Coach Pina is committed to building a competitive basketball program that is complimented by successful student-athletes who are committed to their academic studies.

Coach Pina holds a B.A. in Psychology and Master’s Degree in Counseling.
