Julie Mulvey began her career at Massasoit Community College as the Women’s Basketball Coach in 1981 while completing her degree in Physical Education from the University of MA/Amherst. After spending one year at the college, Ms. Mulvey pursued a career in professional women’s basketball by traveling to Venezuela and playing for the team, Club Petroleras. Following this experience, Julie returned to Massasoit Community College in the capacity of Assistant Director of Athletics & Physical Education.
Under her tutelage as Assistant Director, Ms. Mulvey began a collegiate women’s volleyball program, which the team in its second year, won the New England Championship and competed in the National Tournament. During this time, she continued to coach the women’s basketball team and led the Warriors to two State Championships.
During this time, Julie returned to school and earned her Master’s degree in 1991 from Bridgewater State College in Physical Education with a concentration in Human Performance. As part of her responsibilities at the college, she went on to development cardiovascular exercise programs for staff, students, and the community. Julie also served on various college and NJCAA committees including serving as the Regional Director for Women’s Athletics for Region XXI.
In 1995, Julie Mulvey took the position of Director of Student Life at Massasoit and continued serving students in this capacity until May, 2008 when she returned to the Athletics Department in the role of Director of Athletics & Physical Education.
Julie resides in Halifax with her husband John and three children, Jake, Dan, and Allison.
