President
Wall Conducts All-College Assembly
Introducing himself as
"Charlie Wall" Dr. Charles Wall, Interim President, addressed students,
staff, and faculty at noon on September 12, 2001. Over 500 members
of the MCC family gathered in the Quadrangle under a warm September
sun to remember those who perished in the terrorist attacks on September
11, 2001. After receiving encouragement from Dr. Wall to remember
the spiritual responses in times like these, all joined hands in
silence to remember and pray for the victims and their families.
Dr. Wall also announced that leaders from student organizations
at MCC would be collecting money to send to the American Red Cross
Disaster Services and that blood donation sign-up forms would be
available in the Student Life Office.
A video
of Dr. Wall's address at the All-College Assembly is available
on the MCC website.
Prior to being appointed
Interim President by the MCC Trustees, Dr. Wall served as Deputy
Chancellor for the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. During
his interview with the MCC Trustees, Dr. Wall expressed his desire
to return to a Community College campus stating, "Community colleges
are really where the action is in terms of doing the most good
for the most people in higher education." Dr. Wall is a former
Dean of Academic Affairs at Northwestern Connecticut Community
College and former President of Greenfield Community College.
He was first introduced to the MCC community at a farewell reception
held for Dr. Robert Rose on June 26th. Dr. Rose resigned to become
the President of Mercer County Community College in New Jersey.
