What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment is an arrangement whereby a high school student enrolls in a college level course and may receive both high school and college credit. College courses must qualify under the MassTransfer Block or be part of required curriculum under our MassTransfer approved Associate Degree Programs.
See www.mass.edu/MassTransfer for details.

What Dual Enrollment Opportunities does Massasoit offer?
Massasoit Community College offers two programs, the Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program (CDEP) and the Massasoit Dual Enrollment Program (MDEP). See below:

The Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program (CDEP)
CDEP is a state funded grant which offers a free class to qualified high school students. Priority is given to first-generation college students and students interested in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Students who may not have had the opportunity to participate in an early college experience due to financial circumstances are encouraged to apply. Students may be eligible for one free class per semester with a limit of two classes. Students are selected on a first-come first-served basis and new students are given priority. All students must be approved by the Dual Enrollment Coordinator (State funding is limited and approved on a yearly basis).

Admissions Criteria for CDEP
  1. Student must be currently enrolled in Massachusetts public or non-public schools, including home schools
and be a Massachusetts resident (see note below*).

  2. Student must be recommended by high school guidance counselor or other school official.

  3. Student must have a minimum of a 3.0 G.P.A. and be in good academic standing.**

  4. Student must have written approval by parent or guardian.

  5. Student must take Massasoit’s college placement examinations in Reading, Writing and Mathematics and place
out of all developmental courses; and meet all course prerequisites. (Contact the Student Assessment Office
to schedule a testing appointment, 508-588-9100, ext. 1991).

  6. Students must earn both college and high school credit.
Note:
*Students under the age of 16 may also be required to meet criteria for Youth Learner Policy. (See website for details).
**Students who do not possess the minimum cumulative GPA may be considered eligible based upon demonstration of their potential for academic success through review by the Dual Enrollment Coordinator. Factors to be considered are steadily improving high school grades, a high class rank, special talent, strong grades in the field of the course, strong recommendations by high school staff, etc.

The Massasoit Community College Dual Enrollment Program (MDEP)
Massasoit Community College offers a Reduced Tuition Rate for qualified high school students whereby students can enroll in courses anytime after 4:00 pm on Monday through Friday, anytime on weekends, or online, as long as there are 8 students already enrolled in a class. The cost is $50.00 per credit or $150.00 for a three credit course and $200.00 for a 4 credit course. In addition, students must pay any laboratory or special course fees, books and supplies. Students will be limited to two reduced tuition rate courses per semester and must be approved by the Dual Enrollment Coordinator.

Admissions Criteria for MDEP

  4. Student must have written approval by parent or guardian.

to schedule a testing appointment, 508-588-9100, ext. 1991).

  6. High School credit may be granted only if approved by the receiving high school.  College credit may be granted only if the course is transferable and approved by the receiving college/institution.

  7. Students may enroll in classes starting at 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, anytime on weekends, or online with a minimum of 8 currently enrolled students.
Notes:
*Students under the age of 16 may also be required to meet criteria for Youth Learner Policy. (See website for details).

Three Steps for Completing a Dual Enrollment Application
Take Massasoit’s placement examinations in Reading, Writing and Mathematics. (This should be done prior to submission of the Massasoit Dual Enrollment Application Form and the Registration Form so that students and counselors can choose appropriate classes.)
