| For the Registration Day, your advisor will have a list posted outside his/her office for you to schedule an advising appointment. Note that the time listed in the Cafeteria, Brockton campus or the Registrar’s office, Canton campus is the time for you to register on the computer. You should see your advisor before your registration time. Some advisors may see advisees before this day. We encourage you to contact your advisor prior to registration day to set up your advising appointment. |

Part I – Signing on
Go to Massasoit’s Homepage (www.massasoit.mass.edu). Click on “Banner Access” which is in the center of the page. This takes you to a “Secure Area” entitled “Massasoit Community College Information System”. Click on “Enter Secure Area”, your first option. |
Signing on for the First Time
You will be prompted to enter your User ID and PIN number. Your User ID is your Massasoit ID number. When you log on, the “V” must be capitalized.) Your PIN number is your mmddyy of birth (yy = the last two digits of your birth year). Enter these 6 numeric digits with no spaces, backslashes or hyphens.
You will then be asked to change your PIN. Enter your old PIN (mmddyy of birth) and then change your PIN to a six-digit numeric PIN that you will remember. You will then be prompted to ask a question and provide an answer for security purposes. You can use this question & answer if you forget your pin number. |
Signing on After the First Time
When prompted to type in your PIN number, use the six-digit numeric PIN that you created. If you forgot the PIN number that you created, you can click the “Forgot PIN” box to be reminded. If you still have trouble, call the Massasoit IT Help Desk.
This takes you to a menu of options. Single click on “Student Services & Financial Aid”.
Note: The system will time out after 15 minutes of inactivity. |

| Can I drop or add a class after I register? [ top ] |
| On-line add/drop for the Fall 2008 semester is available through August 15, 2007. Walk-in add/drop is available through the first week of the Fall semester. |

If you receive a message that states “You are not permitted to register at this time”, you can find out the reason by clicking “Return to Menu” then clicking “Check Your Registration Status”. |

| To Add a Course |
Scroll down to enter CRNs (Course Registration Numbers), then click “Submit Changes” to view your current schedule.

| If you want to see the course selections or if you do not know the CRN, click “Class Search”. This will allow you to select variables to narrow your search before clicking on “Class Search” again on this screen. Check the box to the right of the course you want, and then scroll down to click on one of the boxes at the bottom of the page (Register, Add to Worksheet, Class Search). Once you click on the “Register” box, your Current Schedule will appear. |
| Note “Status” on left. If you receive a Registration Error*, the registration for that particular course did not go through and the reason will be listed under “Status”. |
| *You may repeat a course if your grade was below a C-, however, it may show as a “Registration Error”. In this instance, the message is only a warning to you to confirm your selection. It will still allow you to register for the repeat course. |
To Drop a Course
Under “Action” click “Drop Web” next to the course you want to drop, then scroll down and click “Submit Changes”. If no options are listed in the “Action” field, then the class cannot be dropped. If this is a problem, go to the registrar’s office. |

| When you apply to Massasoit Community College, you can also apply for admission to a state college or university. Participating schools include UMass/Amherst, UMass/Boston, UMass/Dartmouth, UMass/Lowell, Bridgewater,Fitchburg, Framingham, Mass. College of Liberal Arts, Salem, Westfield and Worcester State College.

| What is the procedure for meeting the keyboarding competency? [ top ] |
| You can arrange to take the competency test during your first semester. If you would like to attempt to learn about computer keyboarding on your own during your first semester, computers with self-teaching "typing tutors" are available in the ARC. |
| Students who do not pass the keyboarding-competency test must register for a keyboarding course during their second semester. |
| The keyboarding/computer competencies can be met by "passing" CTIM 148 Computer Keyboarding Workshop (1 credit) or CTIM 100 Keyboarding for Non-Majors (3 credits) or by passing the keyboarding competency test. |
| Note: Students in programs with general electives may use this one-credit course as one-third of a three-credit general elective and combine it with two other one-credit courses such as Freshman Seminar, Internet, Word, Excel, Windows, Access, Powerpoint, Physical Education Courses, and others. Some students may choose the higher-level three-credit course, CTIM 100 Computer Keyboarding for Non-Majors, to acquire this skill and meet a general elective requirement. |

| How can I test out of Biological Principles? [ top ] |
|
The biology challenge exam is 50 multiple choice questions (50 points) and 3 essay questions (50 points). The essay portion of the exam includes one required essay question and a choice of 2 out
of 4 other essay questions. A student must score a minimum of 60 points to pass. The exam is
corrected by a member of the Biology Department, and it is returned with a score and the words
Pass or Fail.

The exam covers the topics listed in the course description for Biological Principles, usually material covered in the first 20 chapters or so in a standard biology text. It is not a standardized exam, but
rather an exam developed by the Biology Department to assess student preparedness in areas
covered in the Biological Principles course. Typically the exam takes about two hours to complete. Copies of both Brum's and Campbell's biology texts are on reserve in the Massasoit library for study
and review. |

| A student must make arrangements to take the exam at the Testing Center<. It is scheduled and administered by Clint Smith(x1990). The exam is free of charge and may be retaken if a student
can document a problem such as illness during testing.

| You can search for another section of the course or you can select another course. If the course is required for your program of study, please contact the appropriate division dean. |

| I have an incomplete. How do I make up my incomplete? [ top ] |
| An Incomplete may be given by the instructor is at least a MAJORITY of the course work has been completed. In this event, the student is required to contact the instructor as soon as possible, certainly no later than 30 days after the semester, to determine how the work will be made up. |
| If the student is unable to contact the instructor as soon as possible, he/she should inform the Registrar in writing of the efforts to make contact and intent to make up the work. The grade of I will remain open through the following semester (summer session excluded) at which time, if not changed by the instructor, the grade of I becomes an F.
