What is NCBI?

The National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) is an international leadership training organization based in Washington, D.C. NCBI trains leaders from all sectors of society to effectively address prejudice and discrimination within their settings. NCBI trainers are called on to lead diversity workshops and to serve as resources to intervene in polarizing situations and intergroup conflict. NCBI teams are found in many cities in the United States and in other countries.

The NCBI Campus Affiliate program establishes NCBI teams in colleges and universities across the United States. The Massasoit NCBI Affiliate Team is composed of Massasoit Community College students, staff, and administrators who have been trained as facilitators. The team meets regularly to work on their skill development and to prepare workshops and trainings for the College community. Workshop facilitators create a supportive atmosphere where feelings are not censored and all input is valid. Everyone pledges to keep anything that is said confidential.

What Can I Expect in an NCBI Session?
The workshops are interactive, experiential, high energy and can be tailored to your particular class schedule. Participants are both teachers and learners.

In our workshops, we:
• Celebrate differences and similarities
• Identify misinformation about other groups
• Learn ways to challenge hurtful comments and actions
• Learn to become allies to groups to which we do not belong

How do I request a session?
You select the class date and time for the session to take place. Once your request is submitted, a team member will contact you to discuss the guidelines for the session. The team member will also answer any questions you may have.

Note: We ask that you submit your requests with a minimum notice of two weeks so that we are better able to accommodate the time/day you desire and tailor the workshop to your particular students.”

Fill out Request Form.
