The Writing Center

Faculty Resources

Include this Writing Center Syllabus Statement on your course syllabus:
The Writing Center provides a place where Massasoit students of all disciplines and skill levels can get feedback on writing assignments. Trained writing tutors can help with any part of the writing process including, brainstorming, idea-development, drafting strong sentences and paragraphs, revising, and documenting sources. One-on-one writing tutorials are free for Massasoit students. Appointments do fill up, so please make an appointment by calling (508) 588-9100 x1801, by emailing arc@massasoit.mass.edu, or by visiting the Writing Center (SC Building, ARC).

Schedule a Writing Center Visit or an In-Class Workshop.
The Writing Center Staff are happy to briefly introduce to the Writing Center to your class at any point in the semester. But did you know you can also request an In-Class Workshop?

The Massasoit Writing Center can support instructors who incorporate writing into their courses in more ways than simply assisting their students through writing center tutorials. The Massasoit Writing Center can provide customized in-class workshops, developed for your specific class, with your specific course and assignment goals in mind. Our workshops can be facilitated by Writing Center staff, or co-led with you. By tailoring writing workshops to your needs, we can help your students succeed with specific assignments, or practice skills that can be used in multiple assignments throughout the semester and beyond. Workshop topics include, but are not limited to, brainstorming and assignment planning, MLA or APA citation, peer review and integrating sources. We will happily develop workshops that suit your course needs in terms of topic and time.

Use the In-Class Workshop Form to schedule a workshop. Please submit your request at least 2 weeks in advance of your proposed workshop date. To schedule multiple workshops for the same course or workshops for multiple sections, please submit the form for each individual workshop request.

Submit your assignments to the Writing Center.
Use the Assignment Submission Form to submit your current writing assignments to the Writing Center. Having access to your current assignments and their respective due dates, allows us to more effectively assist your students who come in for tutorials. If you do not want your students to visit the Writing Center for a particular assignment (a take-home test, for example), please also let us know.

Visit the Writing Center for a Faculty Workshop.
The Massasoit Writing Center can support faculty in various ways. We are happy to offer faculty workshops on How to incorporate the Writing Center into your students Writing Habits, Assignment Design, Giving Feedback on Writing Assignments, and Working with ESL Writers, among other topics.
