What should I expect when I arrive for tutoring?
Once you arrive in the Accounting Room, please take a seat and have your assignment out and ready so we can assist you promptly. If you have an appointment, your assigned tutor will meet with you at your scheduled time. If you are a walk-in, please be patient, as you will be assisted in the order in which you arrived.

*Please note: We are here to help the students comprehend material covered in class. We can guide students in completing assignments, but we cannot do the student’s work for them and we cannot help on tests unless otherwise noted by the instructor. Here in the ARC we strive to “help students to help themselves.”

What do you mean by “Walk-ins” and “Appointments”?

Walk-Ins:
If you do not have an appointment, you are considered a “walk-in.” For walk-ins, you are given 15 minutes of tutoring time with one of the tutors, and then you are asked to work on your own. The tutor may then work with another student. If no other students are waiting, your tutor may work with you for up to 30 minutes. If you leave and come back later in the day, you may work with a tutor again, but only for up to 30 minutes. Remember, our goal in the ARC is to help make students independent learners!

Appointments:
If you have an appointment, you are given 30 minutes of uninterrupted tutoring time with one tutor. To make an appointment, you should go to the front desk at the entrance to the ARC or call 508-588-9100 x1801. Please note that each student is allowed three (3) appointments per week, per subject. After that, you may come in as a “walk-in.” You cannot make two or three appointments back to back.

Online tutoring is also available through Massasoit’s participation in the Northeast Tutoring Consortium. Please check in at the ARC (ext. 1082) or with the eLearning Division (ext. 1615) if you would like more information about how to access the online tutoring services at eTutoring.org.
