College Reading Reference and Standards During orientation students take a computerized placement test (CPT) which determines the reading level and placement into Preparing for College Reading I (score of 45 or below on the CPT), Preparing for College Reading II (score of 46-67 on the CPT), or exempts students (score of 68 or higher on the CPT) from the reading courses. The Board of Higher Education mandates the CPT test and determines the cut-off scores. Retesting is allowed.
Prerequisite for PCR II: Placement into Preparing for College Reading II (score of 45-67 on computer placement test), or Placement out of Preparing for College Reading II (score of 68 or above on computer placement test), or Verbal 500 on SAT, or undergraduate level ENGL 091 (Preparing for College Reading I) with a minimum grade of "D-." Prerequisite for PCR I: Reading for ESL students (ENSL 111) or waiver by placement testing results, or departmental approval.
