This three-semester certificate program provides both theoretical and practical training for beginning level professional roles in prevention and treatment settings. It will prepare students to assist in drug/alcohol treatment, to provide educational programs within the community-at-large and to improve service delivery to addicted clients and their families within traditional general social service settings.
Students entering this certificate program will acquire a theoretical knowledge base and a beginning level of skills in the field of addiction treatment. Course work will include classroom and experiential activities oriented toward an overview of chemical dependency, psychological process, intervention techniques with individuals, families and groups, documentation, ethical problem solving, and follow-up activities with recovering clients. |
