Computer Applications Specialist
Course Information

The Computer Applications Specialist major is designed to develop an understanding of how successful businesses have streamlined their information systems and organized their staffs so that vast amounts of data are exchanged more efficiently than ever. The program provides a broad background in business administration, combining computer technology with strong managerial techniques and interpersonal skills. Students learn to communicate electronically and to use on-line data serves and computerized spreadsheets, graphics, databases, desktop publishing, and project management software to solve business problems.

Graduates of the Computer Applications Specialist program have the skills and knowledge to be employed in fields such as retailing, marketing, telecommunications, advertising, banking, finance, insurance, law, health care, manufacturing, and government in the following positions:

1 If one tests out of English Composition I, then any Speech, Literature, Journalism, or Foreign Language course may be substituted.

3 Students with prior experience in Windows may, through consultation with the department chair, be placed in Intermediate Windows (CTIM104).
# Office Skills In-House Certificate awarded upon completion of first-semester courses.
## Board of Higher Education Office Technologies Certificate awarded upon completion of first and second-semester courses.
This program awards the A.A.S. Degree upon completion of a minimum of 32 courses and 64 credits.
